Design of City E-Bike
Růčka, Jakub ; Surman, Martin (referee) ; Křenek, Ladislav (advisor)
The traffic situation in cities is getting worse every day. The number of cars that its infrastructure cannot accommodate is constantly growing. The design of an urban electric bicycle was chosen as the topic for this thesis in order to analyse the problematic aspects of the product and the environment in which it is used and try to solve them. Therefore, the final design primarily respects the user and their needs. It meets the individual ergonomic and technical parameters. The refinement of the e-bike to the last detail improves comfort and safety during riding. Thanks to the appropriate integration of lighting elements directly into the individual parts of the e-bike, a sufficient amount of illumination has been achieved. The e-bike allows its user to use light signals while changing directions. A storage space has also been designed for the e-bike, which allows smaller items to be carried. This thesis brings a new perspective to the urban electric bicycle. It shows how its different parts can be approached and how to work with different practical accessories. It also outlines how an e-bike could be connected to a smartphone in order to make its use more pleasant for the user.
Principles of formation of urban greenery as a part of urban interior
Hrubanová, Denisa ; Kyselka, Mojmír (referee) ; Havliš, Karel (referee) ; Prof.Ing.Ivar Otruba,CSc. (referee) ; Wittmann, Maxmilian (advisor)
Urban interior environment mostly serves as a place for various meetings and social events. Thus, these spaces come alive thanks to people, who give them reason and meaning. However, the question is what role urban interior has in the present day, which, at the beginning of the new millennium, is characterized by a high degree of individualism. Within the deurbanization tendencies, buildings and adjoining areas in central parts of cities are often abandoned and the activities move to the periphery. If we want to return the social function to the urban interior, as a place of pleasant encounters and relationships, we need to approach its formation with respect to current trends in the development of human society. From the perspective of sustainable development, it is also necessary not to extend the boundaries of urbanized area to adjacent landscape, while abandoning the central locations in cities, but to maintain their intensive character. From this point of view, it is necessary to realize, that it is the greenery that gives the city an opportunity to perceive public spaces as an integral part of urban life and not just as places that people walk through having no reason to stay longer than necessary. Application of greenery in urban interior provides many positive features to the city. Greenery is an added value that can also operate independently as a functional unit that links the other functions of the urban organism. Both in its solitary form and in line or area applications. Along with water elements, urban furniture, various hard surfaces and landscaping, greenery creates a pleasant and interesting living environment in the city that can be desirable and sought-after again.
The Rehabilitation of the historical center and adjacent surroundings of Kyjov with a focus on the public space
Podivínská, Adéla ; Erben, Adam (referee) ; Pavlovský, Tomáš (advisor)
Kyjov is causing me to have four passwords – it's a small town, tradition, affection and understanding. Small town as in salvation in the modesty, the picturesqueness of knowledge. The tradition, which are for city important and based on them. They are, for example, folk songs, costume, feast, dialects and all that yet remained of the past. Affection is the quality of the architecture, which, although already expired, but still her remains remain. And the last password understanding, and especially in chanting traditions, the preservation of its values, grasping and grappling or finding your uniqueness. At work I dedicate spaces around Kyjovka from Boršov the south end of the city. I try to just flow so neprotékal, but to engage in the urban environment of Kyjov. I have several places that I've re-energise, give them value and use the reserves for the thickening building. These spaces have a new application and are a place to stop, lift up the city and open to visitors and current residents. Kyjovka communicates not only with parks, but even with the new buildings and its features, you will be able to get closer to the stream and found in it a place to rest, but also to entertain or to walk.
Small wind turbines in urban enviroment
Ondráček, David ; Škorpík, Jiří (referee) ; Linda, Jakub (advisor)
This thesis is focused on the problematics of smaller wind turbines usage in the urban environment. The beginning of the thesis deals with the basic theory of wind, its origin, and specifics of air flow in the urban environment. Furthermore, a search of currently available wind turbines suitable for the urban built environment is performed, and regarding the specific air flow in this environment, possibilities are proposed to increase the efficiency of these turbines. The next part of the thesis analyses the experience from real world applications. At the end of the thesis, the energy gains generated by the selected turbine and photovoltaic panels in given locality are calculated, ending with a comparison of the suitability of these two sources of renewable energy.
Index environmentálního zdraví na příkladu vybraných měst České republiky
Sládková, Veronika
The diploma thesis deals with the topic of environmental health index evaluation on the example of cities in the Czech Republic. The thesis defines the individual environmental areas, that affect human health and strategic documents focused on the issue of environmental health. The application part is focused on the evaluation of the index environmental health in 4 selected cities of the Czech Republic – Uherské Hradiště, Jeseník, Blansko, Bohumín. The state of environmental health was assessed through 12 sub-indicators representing 5 environmental areas observed in the territory – air quality, noise pollution, green infrastructure, blue infrastructure, housing conditions and technical infrastructure. The ranking of the cities was determined on the basis of the results of the composite indicator and the TOPSIS method. For both methods, the town of Jeseník was ranked first, and the town of Nový Bohumín was ranked last.
Species-specific and individual predictors of birds' collisions with glass obstacles in the Czech Republic
Semeráková, Anna ; Sedláček, Ondřej (advisor) ; Viktora, Lukáš (referee)
Recent landscape transformation is associated with the emergence of various artificial obstacles that change the natural form of habitats and biocorridors of free-ranging animals. Glass obstacles represent a particular problem due to their transparency and reflectivity. Collisions with glass represent one of the most significant causes of bird mortality worldwide, accounting for over hundreds of millions bird deaths annually. Many authors consider this source of mortality to be completely non-selective. In that case, total collisions mortality would represent a function of population size. However, here I assume that the relationship between collision mortality and population size is more complex and that certain avian ecological groups may be differently susceptible to glass collisions based on their specific ecological characteristics. Long-term records of bird-glass collisions in the Czech Republic were provided by the Czech faunistic databases. These records were compared with the population size of analysed species and with selected ecological and morphological species characteristics. Consistently with the premise, I found out that the greatest amount of collision mortality is explained by the species' population size. However, other species characteristics, such as higher body weight,...
Synurbanization in wood pigeon (Columba palumbus) and Eurasian magpie (Pica pica)
Tesařík, Jáchym ; Lučan, Radek (advisor) ; Hořák, David (referee)
Both Eurasian magpie and Wood pigeon are typical synanthropic bird species. By studying the available sources, I found that during their synurbanisation, both species have undergone several changes that have facilitated their transition from rural to urban habitats. Due to their adaptability, they have no problems colonizing urban environment and have managed to occupy new and diverse range of nest sites. Thanks to synurbanisation, both Magpie and Wood Pigeon have been able to expand their range and increase their overall abundance. Possibly the biggest threat to urban populations of both species is nest predation, which locally leads to declining population trends and reduced breeding success. Because of predation pressure and the adaptability of both species, I think we can expect not only an increase in abundance and population density in their urban population in the future, but also the occupation of new and more diverse nesting habitats in closer proximity to human settlements.
Occurrence and habitat selection of Common wood pigeon (\kur{Columba palumbus)} in the urban environment.
MELNYK, Andrii
The bachelor thesis focuses on the study of the abundance and habitat requirements of the wood pigeon (Columba palumbus) in different environments. It analyses the adaptation of the wood pigeon (Columba palumbus) to urban environments and its ecology in urbanized areas. The results show that most pigeons were found in the park zone, where most nests were also found. Fewer pigeons and nests were found in the urban environment compared to the park zone, while the agricultural habitat had the fewest pigeons and nests. The average number of pigeons per hectare and the number of nests per hectare were also calculated for each habitat and showed differences in population density between them. The work also focuses on factors affecting the occurrence and abundance of the wood pigeon (Columba palumbus) in urban environments, such as food availability, nesting sites and suitable climatic conditions. The aim of this thesis is to obtain more detailed information on the adaptation of the homing pigeon to the urban environment and its ecology, which may contribute to a better understanding of the relationships between the urban environment and bird habitat.
The housing market in Ukraine
DIAKOV, Vladyslav
The purpose of this thesis was to take a deeper look into the Ukrainian housing market, understand its problems and find or synthesize possible solutions. My primary motivation for writing this paper is a period in my life when my father bought me an apartment in Kyiv and I, having no experience dealing with Ukrainian housing market bureaucracy and corruption, had to do all the paperwork to become a legal owner of the property. I failed multiple times before I succeeded and experienced a lot of issues, I researched in this paper first hand. Due to the reasons explained in the paper, obtaining primary data about the Ukrainian housing market is virtually Impossible, therefore the main sources for this thesis were theoretical works of scientists and researchers and secondary statistics. In the process of research, it was discovered that some problems undermining the development of the housing market in Ukraine are more trivial and easily solvable than it was hypothesized. However, some of the problems turned out to be deep-seated and systemic. This thesis definitely shows that even though the problems of the Housing market in Ukraine are serious and very damaging, there are possible solutions that can be effective in solving or at least mitigating those issues.
